Dogs are a major killer of kiwi adults, as kiwi have a strong musky odour which dogs find irristable. Because kiwi don't fly they have evolved without a wishbone in their rib cage. This makes their rib cage fragile and when a curious dog mouths a kiwi, it unwittingly kills the poor kiwi.When in other bush areas have your dog on a leash, or when hunting, muzzle your dog.
