kiwi release April 2007

two kiwi gifted by Kiwi Encounter in Rotorua Our volunteers gathered at Jim and Ngaire Pendergrast's woolshed for our second kiwi release of two captive bred kiwi females Matariki and Tutaki. Sadly Tutaki was killed by a car. Matariki keeps our kiwi trackers on their toes as she goes searching for a mate in all four corners of Otanewainuku. We plan to release a male kiwi late in 2010 and hope they settle down together.
