Postponed Kokako dawn chorus

Next one is 10 June 2017

Hi everyone. Unfortunately the weather for tomorrow isn't looking good so we are postponing the kokako morning chorus. Everyone who has booked in for tomorrow's session has been contacted and their booking shifted to the session on the 10th of June if that dates suits.
$25 per person. Email Tireni Ratema on tratema@doc.govt.nz to book

Join us for a quiet 30 minute hike into Otanewainuku to kōkako territory. Sit and wait quietly to hear the beautiful song of the kōkako at first light. You must be absolutely silent to hear and witness this magnificent bird.

There are no guarantees that the birds will sing for us. Even on a good day a sighting can be no more than a fleeting glance.

Participants must have had breakfast before they arrive. Please bring a torch/head lamp, warm clothes, a raincoat, good footwear, something waterproof (e.g. raincoat) to sit on, snacks and drink while you wait and a camera or bird binoculars if they have them.

Bookings are essential - 10 people maximum per session

Who is this event for: Everyone – however not suitable for young children as you must be able to silent and wait in the dark for extended periods of time.
